Amit Profile Photo
Amit Gupta, In Thailand, 2001

The travel gene in me is inherited from my mothers side of the family. She had it, my eldest maternal uncle had it so bad that sometimes he would get away without anything more than the clothes on him. The writing gene is directly inherited from my mother who was an accomplished, published and recognized writer, and photography was a self discovery that I made during my college years thanks to a buddy who let me use his film SLR, the famed Pentax K-1000. I was 21 then.

Thats me on the right, year 2001. It was my first trip to Thailand, taken by my then fiance, on Fuji Scala film (which I had to mail to Los Angeles for processing because there were exactly two labs in the United States who could do it). From the rolls of film looped in my gear bag to my photographers jacket, this photograph will eternally remind me of a road not taken. I was 30 then.

Today this site is my creative outlet, a place to share my travels with family and friends.
